Welcome Amelia! – Simply Ania | Okinawa Birth and Newborn Photographer

Oh My…. Oh My… This little lady will stay in my heart as the first ‘near-miss’ birth.

Her mommy was being induced and it was taking forever and half of the day and all night only progressed to 4cm. Very slow progress. So just before going to take my son to school I messaged Mommy to ask how she was doing and if we had time for me to go and take an hour to get a pedi that my son got booked for me for mothers day. We were good. No progress, still at 4cm. It was going to be an hour!!!

Well, as I sit there getting pampered with my camera bag and hospital bag right next to me and my phone on my laps I get a message… “They just checked me and I am ready to push”.  My heart stopped as I knew I had another 20mins to drive over to the hospital. I begged Daddy to buy me some time and see if they can get me 15mins haha… I was glad that the doctor delivering Amelia was also a client of mine so she knew what I was after.

Driving in the rain, checking my messages every second I could giving dad updates to where I was…. and there is silence…. no reply… until a message few minutes later “already done” my heart sunk. I was so upset. I was running from the parking lot, slipping in my flip flops as it was raining… I run upstairs to ask the midwives for the room and crying that I could not believe that I missed the birth… They said: “missed what? She hasn’t delivered yet!” Gosh, I ran, there was hope! My no miss reputation was in tact! :)

I got into the room to find mommy ‘practice’ pushing. I quickly took my place and started shooting. It took a couple more hours for Miss Amelia to make her appearance but when she finally came out, we all cried.

She is perfect and so so loved! Huge Congratulations Mommy and Daddy!!!!
