WE MADE IT ACROSS THE WORLD!

It was a long trip but we finally made it to Okinawa. It is a bit of a culture shock but we like it so far. Hearing all the news about the snow back in the UK, we are so grateful that we flew out on Friday evening not on a Saturday as we would have been stuck at Heathrow for hours.

Our trip was smoother than we thought it would be.

The taxi ride from base to the airport was short. We arrived at Heathrow with plenty of time to spare so we checked in and went to pick up a couple of keepsakes and some cute British rubber duckies for Brandon.  He was so excited to see all the “fwy” (his word for fly aka airplane). He was so happy to run around the airport telling us what he could see and what color the planes were. All the Japan Airline staff loved him, so he enjoyed all the attention. Once on the plane, he watched a couple of cartoons, had some food and just slept all the way to Tokyo Narita Airport where we got to go outside for a few minutes before having to re-check in all our bags for the second flight.

After arriving to our final destination, we were picked up from Naha Airport by my husband’s coworker. It was late at night but still warm and so different to what we left behind in England. Everyone was so relaxed and friendly towards total strangers, something very uncommon back in Europe. We knew then that we were in for a huge change in our lifestyle… which is not a bad thing :)

I think I might go and take a nap now since we have not slept much last night… I just wanted to let everyone know that we made it to Japan. さようなら
