Anything can happen when I go on call for a birth and have a shoot planned in. McKay knew that there was a slim chance I would have to reschedule her shoot, if my birth momma went into labor on the day we were supposed to shoot but I really didn’t expect it to happen since I just one day into my ‘on call’ period (at 38 weeks of pregnancy). Well, I ended up being called in the night before this session but it was an early stage of labor so we were back home before 9am asked to wait for the mom to progress more before she was admitted to the hospital. At that stage I knew that the 4:30pm shoot with McKay should either take place sooner or rescheduled to another day as I could be going back in to L&D at any stage. I called her on my way back home and we decided to shoot around midday (thank goodness it was an overcast day so we were able to do that). The session was perfect. We got some great shots and even got to try out this ivy covered wall location (which I drive pass every day and have been wanting to use as a backdrop of a session for a while now).
After having to reschedule the newborn session, I finally got to meet Baby Houghton on January 2nd. This boy made me work HARD.
Unfortunately, he wasn’t feeling too great and suffered with pretty bad colic so we only got a few shots of him but those that I got are so precious!
Here is one of them:
