BIRTH STORY SESSIONS WITH SIMPLY ANIA YOUR OKINAWA BIRTH PHOTOGRAPHER
I learned from my own experience that having a professional photographer work with you on that special day is crucial. I went through a little bit of a traumatic delivery myself and needed my husband to be there for me rather than him thinking of taking photos of what was happening. If I had known back then that there was such thing as birth photography, I would have definitely hired one. I wish I had the photographs to look back at and have all the special moments recorded.
When it comes to my own birth photography shooting style, I approach each and every birth in a very photojournalistic manner which means, I do not interfere. Some mommies want me to stay away and just silently capture the whole process and some invite me to sit with them and their family and watch TV and have snacks while we wait for the labor to progress. It is your special day and I will be happy with whatever choices you make. By the delivery day, we would have discussed all of the details of your birthing plan during the consultation scheduled soon after your inquiry.
I will arrive at your birthing place soon after you notify me that you are in active labor and I will stay throughout the delivery and afterwards for about 1 hour to capture the baby’s first moments with you and your family.
My birth photography services come with selected fully edited digital negatives along with print release allowing you to print the images as you wish. The amount of images vary depending on how long the labor is. You can expect roughly 75-350 images. If at any time during labor, you wish for me to leave the room or if the labor ends with an emergency c section, there may be less images in the final gallery. During the initial consultation we will discuss you allowing me or not to publish all or selected images from your labor on my blog or use in my portfolio. There is no mandatory signing of the model release and in fact more than two thirds of the births I have photographed are actually kept private and never shared on my page. If you signed the model release I will post a blog post and sneak preview on Facebook within 24 hours after baby’s arrival. You are more than welcome to share with your friends and family. The complete images gallery from your labor in normally available within 3-4 weeks after the birth.
I ALWAYS do my best to join my clients as soon as I possibly can but please keep in mind that as birth is completely unpredictable, it’s always a chance that something could prevent me from getting to the hospital in time e.g. labor might go faster than expected, there is a bad accident and traffic is at the standstill, or any other factor beyond my control. When booked to photograph birth, I am on call from 38-42 weeks of your pregnancy. Once you decide you want to hire me, I ask for a non-refundable retainer fee to hold the time around your tentative date will be required. The rest of the fees are due by your 36th week of pregnancy. Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend a birth that payment in full for has not been received.
Birth documentary packages start at $1700. Slideshow story is available as an add on for $200. Please feel free to contact me to arrange a complementary consultation to discuss the process and pricing information in more details.
